Seconds or ‘roughies’ are, as their names suggest, bricks that are particularly rough or damaged. They are separated from better quality bricks during the brick cleaning process and will therefore contain a mixture of our four different types of brick. Some seconds will be significantly rougher than others; with some bricks even missing up to one quarter of the entirety of the brick. It is for this reason that we highly recommend sighting seconds before making any purchase.
The irregular nature of seconds can present challenges when using them for paving (the most significant being adjusting the level of the paving to cater for their inconsistent size). Depending on the desired look, however, seconds can make an excellent paving product for a truly rustic finish.
As they are significantly cheaper than our other bricks, seconds can also be used as a building product for walls that are to be rendered or other areas that are not visible.
